These are shoulder mounts, cut rather more artistically at the back and mounted on a pedestal which is usually made of wood. The bases can be inlaid with skin panels, rather than being plain wood or with natural-looking 'habitat' on the top. A low pedestal is also ideal for displaying a giraffe shoulder/neck mount or a warthog. Pedestal mount taxidermy is an excellent solution for lack of wall space and can display some species beautifully, like sable or zebra.
